This is just a neat movement I learned about while at a restaurant recently.
I think a lot of times we like to think that some poorer countries, like India, aren't capable of helping themselves. We romanticize the notion of foreign aid and American/Western generosity, and in doing so fail to recognize that these countries are working to alleviate poverty already. Instead of establishing new, foreign NGOs and organizations, wouldn't it be better for all parties involved to support in-country programs?
