Then we toured around Janpath Market, where I bought souvenirs for some of my family and friends. You'll find out in a few months what you get, unless you told me. It was a really fun market—not quite as crowded and crazy as Sarojini Market last week, but I was okay with that for today. I always have such a hard time buying gifts for people because I just want to get something for every person I know. When things are as cheap as they are here, it's hard not to go overboard and actually do it. But, that's why I intentionally brought a small suitcase without much extra space. It keeps me from making unnecessary purchases.
After the market, I was extremely excited to meet up with another friend.I thought when I left Hyderabad three years ago I might never get the chance to come back to India again, let alone see any of the friends I made during my time at ICRISAT. The other interns at ICRISAT had such a huge impact on my time in India, and I was very grateful for all of their kindness and generosity. Today, I got the chance to see one of them again—Amit! He has been working in Delhi since he graduated from his master's program in Pune, Maharashtra. He took me to this really awesome restaurant called Parikrama. The restaurant is on the 25th floor of a building, which offers a great view of the rest of Delhi. Think the view might get boring after a while? Well, think again, because the restaurant rotates! Slowly you make your entire way around, and get a full 360° view of the city! |
After lunch—which was absolutely delicious!—we got ice cream, which was definitely a treat. I got a waffle cone with chickoo flavored ice cream. Chickoo, as Amit tells me, is a type of fruit, and it was really tasty! I had a great time catching up with Amit, and we had a lot to catch up on! It was so special for me to spend some time with him, and we had several laughs reminiscing on our Hyderabad antics. It was a really wonderful way to spend the afternoon, and I am so happy we got the chance to meet up! |
