I graduated from Geneso High School in Geneseo, IL in 2013. While in high school I remained a three sport athlete all four years and was also heavily involved in student government at both my own high school and in our state district. In 2012 I was selected as a World Food Prize Borlaug-Ruan International Intern and travelled to the International Crops Research Institution for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to conduct an original, independent research project for eight weeks in Hyderabad, India. My project was an initial analysis of the relationship between involvement in female micro-financial institutions and household nutrition in rural farming villages. In the fall of 2013 I received the John Crystal Award for my research and findings at ICRISAT as detailed by the research paper I completed at the end of my internship. I currently attend the University of Notre Dame and am in the Hesburgh-Yusko Scholars Program there. My major is undecided but I am interested in subjects involving international development, food security, healthcare systems and social justice.
